St Augustine's Abbey was a Benedictine monastery in Canterbury, Kent, England. The abbey was founded in 598 and functioned as a monastery until its dissolution) in 1538 during the English Reformation. After the abbey's dissolution, it underwent dismantlement until 1848.

Founded in AD 598 by St Augustine, sent by Pope Gregory the Great to convert the Anglo-Saxons. One of the oldest monastic sites in England. King Æthelberht of Kent granted Augustine land just outside Canterbury's walls. The abbey served as a royal burial place and major centre of learning until the Dissolution. Part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site. Managed by English Heritage.
