Where to Stay in Munster

Planning

Best Time to Visit Munster Castles

May to September is peak season — warmest weather, longest days, and all castle interiors open. Munster benefits from the Gulf Stream, making it Ireland's mildest region. Summer temperatures typically reach 16–20°C.

April and October are excellent shoulder months with fewer crowds and good weather. The autumn colours in Killarney National Park around Ross Castle are spectacular. Most major sites remain open.

Winter (November–March) is mild but wet. Many castle interiors close, but ruins are always accessible. Cork and Limerick are vibrant year-round cities. The Skellig Michael boat trips only run May–October, so plan accordingly if the island is on your list.
