About

Lullingstone Castle is a historic manor house, set in an estate in the village of Lullingstone and the civil parish of Eynsford in the English county of Kent. It has been inhabited by members of the Hart Dyke family for twenty generations including current owner Tom Hart Dyke.

Recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, the estate was acquired by Gregory de Rokesley, eight-time Lord Mayor of London, in 1279. Sir Percyvall Hart built the current house between 1543-1580 in Tudor style. The Grade I listed gatehouse dates from the 15th century. Queen Anne visited in 1704. The Hart Dyke family has held it for over 500 years. In 2000, Tom Hart Dyke was kidnapped by guerrillas in the Colombian jungle; upon return he created the famous World Garden.
