Cilurnum or Cilurvum was an ancient Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall at Chesters near the village of Walwick, Northumberland. It is also known as Walwick Chesters to distinguish it from Great Chesters fort and Halton Chesters.
Known as Cilurnum, this cavalry fort on Hadrian's Wall was built in the 2nd century AD to guard a bridge over the North Tyne. Home to the Second Cavalry Regiment of Asturians. Features Britain's best-preserved Roman bathhouse. The Clayton Museum houses a remarkable collection of Roman sculpture. English Heritage site.
